Who are we?

uddeklær is a redesign brand, which means that we recycle old clothes and fabric to make new clothes. It started in Norway and is now also made in France by a Norwegian hidden away in a high alpine valley. The name is norwegian, it means "Ludde's clothes" and is pronounced Luddeclaire.

We make childrens' clothes out of used curtains, tablecloths, duvet covers, clothes for adults (yes, we do wash them first) and with "old new fabric". My grand-mother for one liked to get fabric for new curtains well in advance, and many of them were never made.It would be such a pity not to use these fabrics when all our planet dreams of is to produce less new things to get a little well-earned rest..

Every item of clothing is unique. We only use second-hand fabric and buttons, therefore we don't have a lot of each. Every item of clothing is handmade in France or in Norway. Most of the fabrics have been washed many times, which is quite reassuring when we now how much residue of chemicals there can be in new fabric. We make sure that the clothes can be worn a long time by leaving space to grow in. In short, ecological and colourful design for kids..

Our flat, which is of alpine size and therefore small, is overflowing with fabric. But we are still constantly on the lookout for more.
